Today marked an exciting milestone as Simon and Jon took their new team to their first-ever tournament. The day began with a challenging match against a well-organised MK Athletic Titans team, resulting in a 2-0 loss. However, as the games progressed, the boys started to find their rhythm. In their second game, Halse began to dominate possession, gaining confidence and eventually taking the lead. Unfortunately, with just two minutes left, W&W Hurricanes managed to equalise with a scrappy goal, ending the match at 1-1.
In their third match, Halse continued to play well, again taking the lead. Yet, in a repeat of the previous game, their opponents, Youngs FC, intercepted a late corner and scored on the break, resulting in another 1-1 draw. The team and management felt deflated, knowing these matches could have been wins, propelling them into a great position to challenge for the Cup.
Determined to finish strong, Halse faced Walton MK Wolves in their penultimate game. Walton Wolves took an early lead, dampening Halse's spirits, and the game ended 3-1. Despite the setback, Halse went into their final game with renewed determination, needing a win and a loss for Youngs FC to progress to the shield.
In an impressive display, the boys, supported by parents and coaches, took to the field with fighting spirit against Tattenhoe Youth Tigers. From the first whistle, they pressed hard, showcasing their true potential and securing a remarkable 3-1 victory.
Overall, it was a fantastic day for the whole team. They demonstrated their ability to compete with teams from major cities, enjoying their experience and leaving with heads held high. Massive shout-out to the U10s for their support in this debut tournament.
