Many of you may now be aware of an accident over the weekend which led to the tragic death of Oliver Croker age 12 in Devon. Oliver was spectating at a match where two adult players collided with a barrier and this caused some part of that barrier to fly off and cause a head injury that he never recovered from. This is awful news and our condolence goes to Oliver's family and friends.
I would like to invite our teams at the weekend to show respect to Olly and his family by observing 1 minute silence before kick off.
Also it would be right to remind everyone involved in football at our club about the use of respect barriers the following:
The spectators should be stood at least 2 metres from the pitch opposite side to the coaches and players.
Only the FA official respect barrier to be used, ones with spikes etc should not be used.
Always check the pitch but also the surroundings of the pitch of any hazzards eg when I and the under 11 coaches were at Westbury we noticed the cricket green had be coned off with metal posts!
The above applies to both home and away fixtures.
Should you have any questions on this then please speak to our Welfare Officers or your Coaches.
